<Project 1>Time Flies Quickly: A Series of Designs About Calendars
<OBJECTIVE>Typography plays a crucial role in graphic design, as it communicates information through language, form, and the reading experience. It serves as a bridge between the audience and designers, showcasing authorship through an experiential lens. Project 1 emphasizes typography, concentrating on crafting layouts, letter forms, shapes, and visual rhythm both individually and collectively.
<FORMAT>All files should be named LastName_FirstName_Project1, uploaded to your assignment folder. Please bring the printouts to class.
<SUBJECT>"Time Flies Quickly" is a series of designs focused on calendars, exploring numbers and typography, shapes and glyphs, as well as data and narrative. The project will be divided into three parts.
Part ❶ Black and White and Type: Create two 8.5x11 inch posters in CMYK, using only black and white. Each poster will represent a month of your choice, incorporating content such as dates, the month, your name, class information, and some sentences or keywords relevant to the month, with a maximum of 250 words.
For one of the posters, you should use only one typeface. Employ glyphs, simple lines, grids, and layout to visualize the chart/date information. The other poster can feature any typeface, including existing ones or your own designs, as well as any glyphs and shapes, but only in black and white. Any Images are not to be used for Part 1.
The ultimate goal is to collectively create a full calendar within the class.
