<OBJECTIVE>Learn new tools in Illustrator (Selection, Direct Selection, Line, Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, Zoom, Fill and Stroke, Color Picker) through the creation of 3 total color wheels. Learn new tools in Photoshop (compare raster and vector graphics, Filters). Build understanding of color theory.
<FORMAT>All files should be named LastName_FirstName_ColorWheel, uploaded to your assignment folder. ❶ 1 page with your vector-format color wheel in CMYK ❷ 1 page with your raster-format color wheel in RGB ❸ 3 your vector-format flowers in CMYK .
<PROCESS>❶ Open Illustrator. Create a New Document: 8.5x11", Portrait Orientation, CMYK Color Mode. Go to File > Save As, and save your document as LastName_FirstName_Color-
Wheel.ai. ❷ Using new Illustrator tools—Selection, Direct Selection, Line, Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, Zoom, Fill and Stroke, Color Picker—create two versions of the color wheel. One should be the standard color wheel built with circles, the other should be your own creative interpretation of the color wheel using whatever shapes you'd like. ❸ Once you are finished, select File > Save. Then go to File > Save As, change the format to Adobe PDF, select Save, make sure the Adobe PDF Preset is set to [Illustrator Default] , and select Save PDF. ❹ Open Photoshop. Create a New Document: 8.5x11", 300 pixels/inch resolution. Go to File > Save As, and save your document as LastName_FirstName_ColorWheel.psd. ❺ Reopen your color wheel in Illustrator. Select your full creative color wheel, and copy (either through Edit > Copy or with the CMD + C keystroke). Paste the color wheel in your Photoshop document (either through Edit > Paste or with the CMD + V keystroke). ❻ Zoom in both your Photoshop and Illustrator documents. Compare the edges of the raster graphic in Photoshop and the vector image in Illustrator.
